The Ravi River has surged beyond dangerous levels at Shahdara, where water inflow was recorded at 219,770 cusecs, submerging housing societies and forcing emergency evacuations across Lahore.
Relentless monsoon rains and water releases from India have left the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers in high flood, with levels continuing to rise. Entire neighborhoods in Farrukhabad, Aziz Colony, Amin Park, Afghan Colony, Shafiqabad, Maridwala, and Badami Bagh have gone under water, with floodwaters spreading into parts of Chohang as well.
Police patrols have been making evacuation announcements through loudspeakers, while rescue teams rushed to help stranded families reach safety. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said rescue and law enforcement teams are actively working in the worst-hit areas.
Beyond Lahore, the flooding has devastated farmlands in Multan, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Chiniot, and Faisalabad, leaving large stretches of cropland destroyed and thousands displaced.
According to the Flood Forecasting Division:
-
The Chenab River is flowing at 85,300 cusecs at Chiniot Bridge and 355,436 cusecs at Khanki, with levels rapidly rising at Trimmu Headworks.
-
The Sutlej River has swelled to more than 261,000 cusecs at Ganda Singh Wala, prompting large-scale relocations.
In Multan, authorities have warned that Chenab floodwaters could enter the city within the next 24 to 48 hours. To protect urban centers, controlled breaches at Head Muhammad Wala and Sher Shah have been approved.
Thousands of families along the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej remain in crisis as the rising waters engulf homes, land, crops, and livelihoods.
