Six people in Karachi have died of rabies between May and August after suffering dog bites, according to the provincial health department.
The fatalities were reported from Jinnah Hospital and Korangi Trust Hospital, with three deaths at each facility. In total, Sindh has recorded 14 rabies-related deaths this year — eight at Jinnah Hospital and six at Korangi Trust Hospital.
Hospitals across the province have also documented more than 22,000 dog bite cases in 2023, raising alarm over the escalating threat.
Health officials say curbing rabies, particularly in urban centres like Karachi, remains a pressing challenge.
