Calls for Accountability in Gaza

The OIC has released another statement denouncing Tel Aviv’s violence as Israel’s crimes in the occupied Gaza Strip go unchecked. The Muslim bloc’s foreign ministers expressed their indignation in a lengthy 38-point document during their meeting in Jeddah on Monday. There is not much else in the paper, despite its many calls for action and admirable goals. If they are fortunate enough to escape Israel’s savage attacks, Palestinian men, women, and children continue to starve to death in the meanwhile. Several Palestinian journalists, including those employed by Western news organizations, were killed as Tel Aviv struck the Nasser Hospital once more.

However, there is scant proof that the Zionist state will be held accountable for this or any other of its transgressions. Israel enjoys unrestricted impunity, while other states are subject to the law. The resolution “calls upon all states to take all-possible legal and effective measures” to end Israeli atrocities, echoing the OIC’s censure. “Imposing sanctions [and] suspending the supply … of weapons” to the Zionist organization is one of the recommended actions. The key question, however, is why the Arab League and OIC governments don’t take the initiative and impose arms and trade embargoes on Israel. What are Muslim state rulers and kings awaiting? In actuality, a large number of the states that have supported this resolution still have diplomatic ties with Tel Aviv. Perhaps aware of the stark differences between the actions and words of Muslim regimes, Israel’s leaders ruthlessly murder Palestinians in the knowledge that they will not face consequences.

However, Tel Aviv will target other regional states after Israel is “done” with the Palestinians, most likely after they have been ethnically cleansed or sent to other areas. The OIC resolution also denounced the Israeli prime minister’s “Greater Israel” vision, which Benjamin Netanyahu just reiterated his commitment to, so this is hardly the stuff of conspiracy theories. Arab and Muslim nations ought to understand that “Greater Israel” is defined by Zionism as “the brook of Egypt to the Euphrates.” The nations that are included in this horrifying image can be found in a good atlas. Furthermore, as seen by Israel’s control of land in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon, the Zionists are determined to fulfill their promise of “Greater Israel.” Therefore, the Zionists may soon eat up vast portions of the region if the massacre of Palestinians is not stopped right once.
