Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued strict directives to ensure the timely evacuation of populations in flood-hit areas, ahead of expected flood torrents, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported on Monday.

In a statement, the CM emphasised the need to utilise all available resources to minimise loss of life. She ordered the immediate relocation of residents from riverside and low-lying areas to safe places and instructed the prompt shifting of livestock from rural flood-affected regions.

Maryam also called for continuous monitoring of the flood situation, particularly along the Sutlej River and other flood-prone areas.

“The government must ensure comprehensive arrangements for the accommodation, food, and medical treatment of flood victims, including the provision of snakebite vaccines without delay,” she said.

The CM instructed district administrations, Rescue 1122, and relevant departments in Kasur, Pakpattan, Taunsa Sharif, and other vulnerable districts to remain on high alert. She warned that any negligence in response to the disaster would not be tolerated.
