by H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi

As I am concluding my mission as the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the dear and friendly Islamic Republic of Pakistan, I find myself filled with a mixture of emotions: gratitude, reflection, and pride. The years I have spent here have been far more than a diplomatic assignment—they have been a deeply human journey, rich with experiences, friendships, and mutual understanding. This journey encompassed challenges and inspiring achievements, constructive partnerships, and bonds that will remain etched in my heart for a lifetime.
Pakistan’s rich and diverse culture has been a constant source of inspiration to me. From its vibrant traditions to its remarkable history, I have learned so much from the people here, and I have come to admire the resilience and warmth that define Pakistan’s identity. It has been a joy to witness how deeply rooted values of hospitality, unity, and kindness resonate across the nation. I have seen firsthand how sincere dialogue and mutual respect can make a meaningful impact in our world.
When I first arrived in Islamabad on 17 September 2017, I came as a representative of my country—but never felt like a stranger. In this generous land and among its noble people, I found open hearts and genuine hospitality. I felt embraced by a sense of belonging, surrounded by warm hearts, kind smiles, and hands extended with goodness and humanity. I discovered a people who greet strangers with affection and treat others with grace and noble character.
The years I spent here will forever live in my memory. They were not merely diplomatic duties—they were a full chapter of life. I learned, I reflected, I laughed, and I was moved. In the people of Pakistan, I witnessed a living proof that beautiful values still thrive: loyalty, honor, tolerance, and dignity.
Today, as I prepare to depart, I do not leave with only my passport and suitcases. I carry something much deeper: I carry real friendships, priceless memories, and a love for this country that will always remain a part of me, wherever I may go. I write these final words to you while overwhelmed with emotion, as if bidding farewell to a second homeland—not just concluding a diplomatic post in my career.
Though I am leaving, my second home, as Ambassador of the UAE to Pakistan, the seeds of friendship and trust that we planted together will endure. Diplomatic relations may be governed by agreements, but they are sustained by sincere sentiments and mutual respect. You have always been, and continue to be, the bearers of this goodwill.
I leave today with the fondest of memories, and with heartfelt appreciation for everyone I met and worked with. To all who played a role in my journey here officials, diplomats, colleagues, friends, and citizens, I say sincerely: thank you. You were more than partners; you were a family.
I would like to extend my deepest thanks to all those who accompanied me in this journey, those who supported me, and those who shared in the vision and the mission. Although I leave in an official capacity, my heart will remain tied to this land. I will always remain a sincere friend and an ambassador of goodwill for this nation in my heart.
I truly hope that the bridges of friendship and cooperation will continue to strengthen, and that our joint efforts for a brighter, more peaceful future will endure.
I may be leaving, but the love remains. The bonds we have built cannot be erased. I will always remain a loyal friend of Pakistan and look forward to the day I return—not as an ambassador, but as a grateful visitor with deep affection.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all the Pakistani nation, government and leadership, I pray that my Pakistani brothers continues to enjoy peace and prosperity, and that the bridge of friendship between us remains strong—untouched by distance and unchanged by titles.
Thank you, Pakistan
