The Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, recently visited Pakistan a visit that was full of hope and great significance. Upon his arrival at Noor Khan Airbase, he was warmly and enthusiastically received by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar. Before arriving in Pakistan, the Chinese Foreign Minister first visited India, followed by a trip to Afghanistan, where trilateral talks were held between Afghanistan, Pakistan and China. After these diplomatic engagements, Wang Yi visited Pakistan, where he was warmly received by the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the President of Pakistan. The grand reception at the airport reflected the deep-rooted relationship between the two countries.
This visit is considered historically important and full of hope for future developments. One major reason for this is the evolving geopolitical and geostrategic landscape of the region, where China is expected to play a pivotal role. During the visit, discussions were held on the current regional situation and progress related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
On this occasion, the Chinese Foreign Minister stated that Pakistan is China’s most important partner, calling it a “highly significant strategic state.” Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the strategic importance of relations with China, describing them as the “cornerstone” of Pakistan’s foreign policy. He firmly stated that Pakistan will never compromise on its relationship with China. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen communication, coordination and bilateral ties further, referring to China as a trusted and sincere friend an “iron brother.”
China has always stood by Pakistan in difficult times. Even during the 2025 Pakistan-India war, China supported Pakistan with advanced technology and strategic security information proving itself a true friend and elder brother. This friendship has always been upheld with sincerity and loyalty.
The relationship between Pakistan and China is built on a strong foundation and has flourished over time without the need for formal introductions. During this visit, the Chinese Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s hospitality and once again emphasized that the bond between the two nations is rooted in love and trust. Both countries agreed to continue working together for regional peace and cooperation.
Wang Yi also mentioned that China looks forward to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to China. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of China’s relations with other South Asian countries and appreciated the mutual trust and understanding between China and those nations.
The strategic partnership between Pakistan and China is vital for regional peace and development, and both countries are determined to take it forward. China acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in the fight against terrorism and expressed hope for enhanced bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
Discussions also began regarding the second phase of CPEC. In light of changing regional dynamics, shifts are also being seen in the strategic partnership between India and the United States. In this context, the Modi government has once again attempted to re-engage with China exposing India’s two-faced foreign policy, which tends to form alliances only when beneficial and withdraws when convenient.
For example, when the Trump administration imposed 50% tariffs on India, it shifted its stance and attempted to realign with China. However, unlike the uncertain foundations of China-India relations, the relationship between China and Pakistan is based on mutual trust, brotherhood and a deep-rooted friendship cherished by the people of both nations. This friendship is passed down from generation to generation, growing stronger with time. Pakistan fully values this priceless and loyal friend and remains firmly committed to the relationship.
China has repeatedly proven itself to be a sincere, reliable and genuine friend who never leaves its partners alone. During the visit, the Chinese Foreign Minister remarked, “Pakistan is my final and most important stop.”
Now, all eyes are on the upcoming visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister to China, to see what new developments and initiatives unfold. The recent visit by China’s Foreign Minister was undoubtedly a great success. Important discussions also took place regarding Afghanistan, where China is expected to play a leading role in the future.
China is regarded as the most responsible and wise nation in the region one that always promotes understanding, trust, friendship, connectivity, development and peace. China does not promote aggressive policies anywhere and this is the essence of its successful diplomacy. That is why countries across the region including India continue to place their trust in China and are now attempting to rebuild ties.
