Provincial Minister for Health and Emergency Services Khawaja Salman Rafique on Friday chaired an important meeting at the Rescue Headquarters to review monsoon arrangements, vowing that a comprehensive strategy would be formulated to reduce the accident rate across Punjab.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Emergency Services Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer, senior rescue officers, and district officials who joined through video link at the Provincial Monitoring Cell.

At the outset, prayers were offered for the rescuers martyred in Rahim Yar Khan a day earlier. The minister directed officials to ensure the best possible care for the injured and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

Team Leader of Pakistan Rescue Team Dr Farhan Khalid briefed participants on ongoing relief operations.

Khawaja Salman Rafique acknowledged the sacrifices of rescuers in Rahim Yar Khan, noting that they laid down their lives while saving citizens.

He said the effectiveness of Rescue 1122 services was increasing, particularly in the northern areas, and praised the dedication of staff during the monsoon season.

He added that water flow in Punjab’s rivers remained normal.
