In a significant step toward deepening bilateral relations, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, met today with the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Her Excellency Ms. Jane Marriott, to discuss enhanced cooperation on democratic governance, diaspora engagement, and policy reforms.

During the meeting, Barrister Chaudhry underscored Pakistan’s commitment to democratic development, emphasizing that robust institutions and open dialogue are key pillars of a sustainable democracy.

The discussion also addressed the concerns of the Pakistani diaspora in the United Kingdom, particularly around taxation and facilitation. High Commissioner Marriott welcomed the Government of Pakistan’s continued efforts to support overseas Pakistanis and expressed the UK’s interest in expanding collaboration to improve services for the diaspora community.

On the subject of domestic reforms, Barrister Chaudhry highlighted the government’s focus on strengthening local governments as a means to deliver efficient public services and foster inclusive development. He also briefed the High Commissioner on initiatives to counter misinformation and promote Pakistan’s narrative on global platforms.

Barrister Danyal, a member of Parliamentary Committees on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to poverty alleviation and education, extended an invitation to Ms. Marriott to visit his constituency and witness the education reforms underway. These reforms aim to establish institutions meeting international standards and boost enrollment in public schools.

Both sides also explored strategies to combat poverty and raise the standard of living for marginalized populations.

Concluding the meeting, Barrister Chaudhry reaffirmed his dedication to advancing strategic communication, strengthening support for overseas Pakistanis, and ensuring that public welfare remains central to policymaking.
