Google has rolled out a new AI-powered feature in its Chrome browser designed to help users shop smarter by summarizing store reviews directly in the browser. Initially available to desktop users in the US, this update aims to simplify purchasing decisions by offering quick insights into online stores’ reputation, product quality, customer service, pricing, and return policies.
The feature can be accessed by clicking an icon next to the URL in Chrome. These AI-generated summaries are built from reviews collected via trusted partners like Trustpilot, Bazaarvoice, and Yotpo.

Currently available in English only, this tool is part of Google’s broader push to integrate generative AI into Chrome and compete with AI-driven platforms like Amazon, Perplexity’s Comet, and The Browser Company’s Arc. While there’s no confirmation on a mobile rollout yet, Google has hinted at expanding AI tools further, including personalized product suggestions, price tracking, and agent-based checkouts using Gemini AI.
As online shopping becomes increasingly competitive and AI-focused, this move by Google aims to position Chrome not just as a browser, but as a smart shopping companion.
