Islamabad: The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Islamabad celebrated the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence with a vibrant ceremony led by Ambassador-designate H.E. Chandra Warsenanto Sukotjo. The event reflected Indonesia’s spirit of “unity in diversity,” blending tradition, culture, and adventure.
Distinguished guests included Major General (R) Asrobudi, Advisor to the Indonesia Big Wall Expedition (IBEX), alongside six Indonesian climbers who recently conquered the world-famous Trango Tower in Gilgit Baltistan. The team proudly raised Indonesia’s Red and White flag at the summit, marking both Indonesia’s independence and the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-Pakistan diplomatic ties.

Ambassador Chandra warmly addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude for the strong participation of Indonesian nationals, students, professionals, and Pakistani friends. “Your presence reflects the love and commitment you hold for Indonesia. May the bond of friendship between Indonesia and Pakistan continue to grow stronger – Pakistan-Indonesia Dosti Zindabad!” he declared.

The celebration was made colorful with traditional music, dances, martial arts demonstrations, and angklung performances by Indonesian children, students, embassy families, and Pakistani partners. Certificates of Appreciation were also awarded to Indonesian female coordinators across Pakistan, while complimentary medical check-ups were provided in collaboration with GAK Healthcare International.
The ceremony concluded with a feast of authentic Indonesian cuisine, leaving guests with a taste of the country’s hospitality. The Embassy’s staff, partners, and cultural performers were commended for making this year’s celebration memorable and more colorful.
