The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming tri-nation T20 series and the Asia Cup, leaving out senior players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.
All-rounder Salman Ali Agha has been handed the captaincy, making his debut as national team skipper in a major international tournament. The announcement was made by head coach Mike Hesson and chief selector Aqib Javed during a press conference in Lahore on Sunday.
The squad features a mix of experienced and young cricketers: Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hassan Ali, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Sahibzada Faran, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Safyan Muqim.
According to selectors, the team has been chosen to combine youthful energy with seasoned talent, aiming to bring a fresh approach to the field
