A speeding car struck two young girls near the Johar Chowrangi underpass on Friday. The impact was so severe that the car overturned, and both girls died instantly.

The young driver, identified as Ibrahim, was also seriously injured in the crash. Police have arrested him, and seized the vehicle involved in the accident. The deceased girls were pedestrians, and their ages were estimated to be between 10 and 12 years old, according to SHO Sharae Faisal Iftikhar Ahmed.

However, a spokesperson for the Edhi Foundation said that the girls were beggars.

Following the accident, police and welfare organisations, including the Edhi Foundation, transported the bodies and the injured driver to a nearby hospital before being transferred to Jinnah Hospital. Further legal proceedings are underway.

At least nine people, including four women and children, were injured when a speeding minibus overturned near Saba Cinema in New Karachi on Friday.

According to police, the vehicle went out of the driver’s control and flipped over. Police and Chhipa volunteers reached the scene immediately after the incident and began rescue operations, shifting the injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Rescue officials identified the injured as 22-year-old Areeba, 30-year-old Naghma, 50-year-old Zarina, 27-year-old Parveen, 4-year-old Dua, 10-year-old Anas, 10-year-old Zubair, 30-year-old Ismail, and 25-year-old Imran.

The New Karachi Industrial Area police said they were conducting further investigations into the cause of the accident.
