KARACHI: Indian politician, columnist, and peace activist Sudheendra Kulkarni has extended warm greetings to the people of Pakistan on the occasion of the country’s 78th Independence Day, urging both nations to foster good-neighbourly relations and work towards regional harmony.
In his message, Kulkarni said: “Greetings on Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day! Tomorrow is India’s 78th Independence Day. Let’s establish good-neighbourly relations. And (along with Bangladesh) move towards joint celebration of the Centenary of our Independence from British rule in 2047. And create a peaceful and harmonious South Asian Union by 2047.”
Recalling the shared history of struggle against colonial rule, he added: “Remember: From Peshawar to Chittagong, we fought – and sacrificed – for freedom together.”
Kulkarni, who is known for his consistent advocacy of India-Pakistan peace and regional cooperation, emphasized that
the vision of a “South Asian Union” by 2047 could bring lasting stability, prosperity, and friendship across the subcontinent.
Do you want me to also prepare an editorial-style version of this for The Financial Daily that frames his statement in a diplomatic and analytical tone? That could make it more impactful for readers.
