A cattle trader was allegedly set on fire by four individuals, including two brothers, following a dispute over a debt. The victim, Mushtaq alias Makha, who sustained severe burns, was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The victim’s wife, Parveen Bibi, filed a police report stating that her husband was owed Rs 107,000 by two of the suspects, Qamar and Hamid, and their accomplices.

On August 3, Mushtaq went to their village to collect the money.

However, the situation quickly escalated when the suspects allegedly demanded his signature on a blank paper and provided a thumb impression to settle a separate breach of trust case registered against him at the Garh police station.

When Mushtaq refused to comply, the suspects reportedly became enraged, poured petrol on him, and set him ablaze.

He was initially taken to a Rural Health centre for first aid before being transferred to the burn unit of Allied Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

The police have registered a case against the suspects under sections 336-B and 337-L1 PPC and have initiated raids to apprehend them.
