After more than a decade off-air, the iconic reality show Pakistan Idol is making a major comeback — and this time, it’s bigger than ever. The revived season will feature a new judging panel packed with some of Pakistan’s most celebrated artists.
According to a recent report by Variety, the upcoming season will include Fawad Khan, acclaimed actor and singer; Zeb Bangash, known for her soulful vocals; Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, legendary qawwali maestro; and Bilal Maqsood, veteran musician and former Strings member.
Originally aired on Geo Entertainment from December 2013 to April 2014, Pakistan Idol followed the global “Idol” format created by Simon Fuller. The first season featured judges Ali Azmat, Hadiqa Kiani, and Bushra Ansari.
The show’s revival is being led by MHL Global, which has acquired official rights from format distributor Fremantle. In a franchise first, the new season will be broadcast simultaneously on five major Pakistani television networks, marking a historic expansion for the show.
In addition to traditional broadcasting, the reboot will focus heavily on digital engagement. Online auditions will be hosted through the Begin platform, while in-person auditions are planned across major cities and remote areas of Pakistan, aiming to give undiscovered talent from all regions a chance to shine.
