LAHORE: Pakistan Navy won the 4th Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) All Pakistan Hockey Tournament 2025 after edging out Mari Energies 6-5 in the final played at National Hockey Stadium, Lahore.

Mari Energies and PAF secured second and third positions respectively in the prestigious tournament. The colorful concluding ceremony was graced by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf as the chief guest.

He congratulated the winning team and appreciated the efforts put in by tournament organisers, Commander Central Punjab, Sports Board Punjab, Pakistan Hockey Federation, various sponsors and media for conducting and projecting the tournament in a befitting manner.

He hoped that this tournament will certainly contribute in raising the public interest in the national game and also urged the public and private organisations to come forward for its revival.

The chief guest gave away the team and individual prizes to the winners and the top performers of the event. Zakria Hayat from Pakistan Navy was declared the best player of the tournament while Ahmed Nadeem and Abdullah Ishtiaq from Mari Energies emerged as the best scorer and best goalkeeper respectively.

The ten-day long tournament was held from September 25 to October 4, 2025 at the iconic National Hockey Stadium Lahore in which total eight teams from across the country including Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force, Mari Energies, Rangers, Police, Port Qasim and National Bank of Pakistan took part.

The purpose of this tournament was to promote the national game of hockey, which is on the decline for over two decades. A large number of civil and military dignitaries, former Olympians, students and masses witnessed the thrilling final.

The grand finale saw Mari Energies open the scoring through Sufyan Khan, who found the net with a precise finish. Arshad Liaqat doubled their lead, putting pressure on Navy. However, Pakistan Navy showed great resilience, pulling one back through Saifullah, before Rana Waleed leveled the scores with a brilliant effort. The regulation time ended 2-2, leading to a dramatic penalty shootout.

In the initial round of shootouts, Nouman Janjua and Zikrya Hayat scored for Navy, while Umer Mustafa and Ahmed Nadeem converted for Mari Energies, making it level once again. With nothing separating the teams, the match went into sudden death, where Hannan and Zikrya converted one goal each to provide Navy an edge while Mari Energies could convert just one, thus lost the match by 5-6. Rana Waleed of Pakistan Navy emerged as player of the match for his all-round performance.
