The Federal Capital Committee of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), chaired by Mr. Faisal Zahid Malik, has expressed deep concern and strong condemnation over the police action at the National Press Club, Islamabad, on October 2, 2025, which resulted in an unfortunate situation involving members of the journalist community.

In a statement issued after its meeting, the Committee emphasized that freedom of the press and the sanctity of journalistic institutions must be upheld at all times. It noted that any form of intimidation or use of force against journalists constitutes a direct attack on press freedom, which is enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan.

The APNS urged the Government and law enforcement agencies to conduct an impartial investigation, hold those responsible accountable through strict disciplinary action, and ensure such incidents are not repeated in the future.

Reaffirming its unwavering solidarity with the journalist community and the National Press Club, the APNS reiterated its commitment to defending freedom of expression and protecting the rights of working journalists across the country.
