President Donald Trump recently posted, then quickly deleted, an AI-generated video on his Truth Social account, which promoted a fake healthcare system tied to the “medbed” conspiracy theory.

The video, posted on Saturday, September 27, showed an AI-generated version of Trump announcing that every American would soon receive a “medbed card” giving them access to “new hospitals” offering advanced technology. The fake news clip, featuring a mock Fox News segment hosted by Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, claimed that these hospitals were designed to “restore every citizen to full health and strength.”

“Medbed Hospitals: The New Era In Healthcare” appeared in the video, which was later confirmed to be entirely fabricated. Fox News confirmed to The Verge that the segment never aired on any of their platforms.

The clip was removed from Trump’s profile after being up for approximately 12 hours. The White House and Fox News did not respond to requests for comment.

The “medbed” theory, which claims that miraculous beds can cure ailments, reverse aging, and restore limbs, has circulated in online conspiracy circles, particularly among followers of QAnon. Some proponents of the theory allege that these beds are hidden by the wealthy elite and the “deep state,” though there is no evidence to support such claims.

The video’s promotion of the “medbed” theory sparked controversy, given its link to baseless conspiracy beliefs. While some versions of the medbed idea have been sold by vendors in New Age circles, they often make unverified and dubious claims about the technology’s capabilities.
