Renowned actress Durefishan Saleem has finally spoken out about the ongoing speculation surrounding her alleged romantic relationship with co-star Bilal Abbas Khan, following widespread rumors suggesting that the on-screen couple might be getting married in real life.
The pair captivated audiences with their powerful performances in the hit drama Ishq Murshid, where they portrayed two individuals entangled in a love story filled with unexpected twists.
Their compelling chemistry resonated deeply with viewers, prompting fans to “ship” them on social media and speculate about a possible real-life romance.
Despite the persistent rumors, neither Durefishan nor Bilal addressed the speculation publicly, through interviews or on their social media platforms, until now.
In a recent interview, Durefishan was asked to respond to the rumors and how she deals with such widespread speculation.
“By not responding,” she said , adding that staying silent has often proven to be an effective way to let such rumors die down.
The Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi actor clarified that her relationship with Bilal is strictly professional, rooted in mutual comfort and respect as co-actors.
“You need to be the most comfortable with your co-actor, especially in romantic scenes. That comfort was always there between me and Bilal from day one,” she explained.
“We laugh a lot during scenes because we crack up at the smallest things.”
When asked why she chose not to publicly deny the rumors, Durefishan responded, “It’s going to happen when it’s going to happen. A wedding might be a private affair, but the moment it happens, everyone is going to post a picture. Why would anyone delay posting something like that?”
The Pardes actress also shared that her father had advised her early on to keep her personal life away from the public eye, a principle she has continued to follow throughout her acting career.
“Keeping your personal life private doesn’t mean hiding something. There’s a difference between secrecy and privacy, and that’s how I take my life ahead especially with this career that I am in right now.”
Durefishan also emphasised the responsibility of maintaining boundaries, saying, “My personal business is going to remain personal as long as I let it be.
