His remarks came after reports emerge Imran demands resignation

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government on Sunday dismissed media reports suggesting that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan had called for Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation due to governance and law and order concerns.

A spokesperson for the chief minister’s office stated that there is no verified source confirming that Imran Khan made such a demand. “Whenever Imran Khan desires, Chief Minister Gandapur will step down,” the spokesperson said, reaffirming Gandapur’s allegiance to the party founder and calling the reports speculative.

The denial came a day after reports claimed Imran Khan, currently incarcerated at Adiala Jail, had expressed dissatisfaction with Gandapur’s performance and suggested that someone else should lead the province.

The spokesperson further highlighted the provincial government’s ongoing initiatives to restore peace, particularly through the formation of regional tribal jirgas. The first such jirga, held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, brought together tribal elders who collectively rejected any future military operations and displacement of civilians, instead calling for dialogue and community-driven peace efforts.

During the jirga, participants also stressed the importance of development through peace and reiterated that no external entity had been granted control over the province’s mineral or other resources.
