Pakistan has taken another revolutionary step and completed preparations to send a modern hyperspectral satellite into space.

Developed under the leadership of the national space agency, Suparco, this satellite will be launched into space in October 2025, which will further accelerate the pace of development in various fields including science and technology of the country.

The aim of this modern hyperspectral satellite is to facilitate the exploration of mineral resources, agricultural development, flood monitoring, melting of glaciers, and the study of air pollution.

Suparco Chairman Muhammad Yousaf Khan said at the inauguration ceremony of a workshop, “This satellite will provide accurate and modern data on minerals, plants, soil and water quality, with the help of which surveys of many years can now be completed in a few days.”

Suparco Chairman added that this step of Pakistan will pave the way for the effective and sustainable use of natural resources. This technology will help policymakers and researchers make timely and evidence-based decisions, which will prove to be an important milestone for the country’s economic and environmental development.

National institutions like SUPARCO are striving to achieve national interest and global standards. Pakistan is moving towards becoming a strong hub of space technology in the region.
