Pak Suzuki donates Rs.30 million to Punjab flood relief, lauds Maryam Nawaz’s leadership

LAHORE: A high-level delegation of Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited, led by Managing Director Hiroshi Kawamura, called on Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to express solidarity with the provincial government in its ongoing flood relief and rehabilitation efforts. On this occasion, Pak Suzuki handed over a cheque of Rs. 30 million to the Chief Minister as a contribution to the Punjab Flood Relief Fund.
The delegation included Ikhlaq Ahmed Virk, General Manager, along with Syed Wajahat and Muhammad Zeeshan. The team acknowledged the Punjab government’s swift and coordinated response to the devastating floods, commending the tireless efforts of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and her administration in safeguarding human lives, protecting livelihoods, and ensuring the rehabilitation of affected communities.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while thanking Pak Suzuki for its generous support, briefed the delegation on the province’s flood response strategy. She emphasized that Punjab had faced one of the worst floods in its history, yet through timely evacuation, robust rescue operations, and efficient relief distribution, millions of people and 2.2 million livestock were saved. She highlighted the government’s use of thermal cameras, drones, and modern technology which enabled swift access to stranded families and ensured their safe relocation. She reiterated her government’s firm resolve to adopt preventive measures, strengthen infrastructure, and enhance disaster preparedness to reduce the impact of any future calamities.
Managing Director Hiroshi Kawamura expressed deep appreciation for the Punjab government’s effective management and compassionate leadership, noting that the swift response under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had set an example of public service. He reaffirmed that Pak Suzuki remains committed to standing by the people of Pakistan during times of crisis, and that the company would continue to play its role in corporate social responsibility (CSR) by supporting relief, rehabilitation, and social welfare initiatives in the country.
The meeting underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in tackling natural disasters and highlighted the collective responsibility of government, corporate institutions, and civil society in rebuilding communities and ensuring long-term resilience.
