Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken a firm stance against dacoits in the Katcha areas and the water tanker mafia in Karachi, ordering strict implementation of the government’s “zero tolerance policy.”
Chairing a high-level meeting at the CM House on Tuesday — attended by provincial ministers, the Karachi corps commander, chief secretary, and senior civil and military officials — the CM declared, “We will not allow mafias to deprive the people of their rights. Those who lay down arms will be given a chance, but hardened criminals will face decisive action.”
The meeting reviewed security operations in the riverine Katcha belt, where technology-driven actions since October 2024 have intensified. Officials reported 760 targeted and 352 search operations, resulting in the deaths of 159 dacoits, 823 arrests, and the elimination of eight most-wanted criminals. Authorities also seized 962 weapons.
Shah also emphasized long-term development in Katcha, including roads, schools, hospitals, and the Ghotki-Kandhkot bridge project.
Turning to Karachi, the CM was briefed that 243 illegal hydrants had been demolished, 212 FIRs registered, and 103 arrests made. Tankers are now being registered with QR codes, generating an additional Rs60 million in revenue for the Water Board.
Reiterating his stance, Shah said, “We will never allow mafias to exploit Karachi’s citizens. Water belongs to the people, and its protection is our duty.”
