There’s a lot of hard work left, besides narrating destiny

Whether the flood came or was sent – were there administrative culprits, responsible ones, or stains of political apathy? But innocent people were devastated in the name of this natural calamity. Many respectable families, thousands of innocent people, were sacrificed for ration, and then came the turn of ‘the blind distributes trinkets, giving to their own’ – it seems even governmental aid is favoring their own people. It appears those who are party ticket holders, no matter how corrupt, it’s essential to reach the doors of aid distribution. Who is the rightful claimant, what kind of rightful claimant? Now, those from Southern Punjab who couldn’t solve issues till now can severely attribute this – from Pakistan’s establishment till now, what’s the Malala Dabar or Cant’s fund for? For God’s sake, stop it so the politics of hunger in the name of floods can end.
The current leadership wants to take work towards betterment; they should form an institution named Southern Punjab Development Authority instead of giving developmental budgets in the name of people’s representatives and leaders. Within this authority, keep a Relief Fund and let sincere companies fix village infrastructure, roads, bridges, river embankments, and river bridges in the best way, only with governmental consultation, with no role for local politicians and village-level political actors. The thousands who are wandering jobless in areas will get local employment, and there will be model and beehive formation whose fund will also benefit people. The beggary and corruption under the name of Benazir Income Support – the irregular and unjust lists made for lures of 10 lakh, 5 lakh, 50 thousand – the government and tired political characters’ stains’ burden will lessen with these.
Forget the slogan ‘food, clothing, and shelter are secondary’; people don’t want to hear this now. The public will surely be in ACs but shouldn’t sacrifice heart and mind to apathy. Nations that changed destiny changed principles, laws, and obsolete system demands according to time’s needs. My point is also this – according to time’s demands, the obsolete, worn-out system – implementation of a system free from favoritism and only justice – with this destruction, if thinking doesn’t awaken and ways aren’t changed, I sense hunger for justice and terror among people of these areas after this flood – like people impatiently pouncing on aid goods, similarly, in this faulty justice system, there’s a danger of anger and hatred bursting out.
Every time I went to see tent settlements, I saw people with compassionate hearts and emotion-filled spirits serving day and night. Exemplarily, Pakistan Muslim League and Jamaat-e-Islami have set up tent settlement methods on Panjnad. But it was surprising to hear local contractors are renting out government-sent tents at arbitrary prices – is there anyone to check this? Government aid trucks are starting to fall prey to regulation and favoritism. Philanthropists should feel shame and send provisions for these helpless people’s aid for their journey to the hereafter – maybe some off-camera prayer fills your life with happiness. There’s a lot of work left; come, let’s join hands – the helpless people of Alipur are waiting.
First, let me mention the surroundings of the area I’m in – this calamity-stricken area awaits attention from the government as well as philanthropists. Come, let’s join hands so we can pour life and cash.
