Chinese officials say they will adhere to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and separatism

Beijing: Chen Xiaojiang, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Xinjiang, has said in a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari that Pakistan and China will continue to adhere to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and separatism.

President Asif Ali Zardari met with CPC Xinjiang Secretary Chen Xiaojiang in Urumqi, where Governor Xinjiang Erkan Tunyas was also present. Chen Xiaojiang welcomed President Zardari.

Communist Party Secretary Xinjiang Chen Xiaojiang said that President Asif Zardari had met President Xi Jinping in Beijing in February 2025 and important agreements were signed.

He said that the pace of the second phase of CPEC accelerated during the recent visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Xinjiang has become a center of prosperity and sustainable peace, and its GDP has exceeded 5.6 trillion yuan.

Chen Xiaojiang said that Xinjiang is taking steps to overcome the root causes of extremism and promote social development. There are eight sister city agreements between Pakistan and China, including Urumqi and Peshawar.

He said that Pakistan and China will continue to adhere to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and separatism.

On this occasion, President Asif Zardari said that the solidarity of the Chinese people and the development of Xinjiang are impressive, the friendship between Pakistan and China has stood the test of time and is an important pillar of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

The President said that Pakistan will continue to cooperate with China to eliminate terrorism and extremism, Pakistan and China will increase cooperation in the fields of agriculture, industry, minerals and new technology.

Senator Saleem Mandviwala, Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Shah, and ambassadors of Pakistan and China were also present in the meeting.
