In a first for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), a female police officer has been appointed to the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), stated an official notification issued by the provincial police chief on Monday.

Gul has been posted as SSP Investigation in Peshawar, the notification issued by the K-P inspector general stated. Gul will now oversee all investigation-related matters within the district, becoming the first woman in the province to hold such a critical position in the investigative wing.

Hailing from Swabi district, Gul belongs to the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) and is currently serving in Grade-18. She brings a strong academic and professional background to the role. She recently returned to Pakistan after completing a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship.

Her appointment marks a significant milestone for gender representation in the province’s law enforcement sector, which has traditionally been male-dominated. The K-P Police Department described the move as part of ongoing efforts to promote inclusion and merit-based advancement within the force.
