Pakistani actress and host Ushna Shah has expressed sorrow over the killing of Charlie Kirk, 31, a leading U.S. conservative activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA.
Kirk was shot dead while speaking at Utah Valley University, leaving behind his wife and two children. The incident occurred as he was responding to a question on gun violence.
In a post on Instagram, Shah said that while she strongly disagreed with many of Kirk’s political positions—especially his views on Palestine, which she described as a root cause of global unrest—she was heartbroken by his death.
“Seeing a man in his early thirties, a husband, a son, a father of two, be shot in cold blood is heartbreaking,” she wrote, adding that empathy in the face of tragedy is essential to “hold on to our own humanity.”
Kirk, known for his hardline views on abortion, immigration, and gun rights, was a close ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump. As head of Turning Point USA, one of the country’s largest conservative youth groups, he played a prominent role in mobilizing young voters.
Trump paid tribute on Truth Social, describing Kirk as “a great, indeed legendary” figure and offering condolences to his family.
Shah concluded that while her heart remains with Palestinian families enduring immense suffering, the murder of Kirk was an undeniable human tragedy.
