UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan on Friday called on the UN Security Council to hold Israel accountable for what it described as “illegal and unprovoked aggression” against Qatar, warning that such actions endanger international peace and the security of all states.

Addressing an emergency meeting on the Middle East—convened by Pakistan, Algeria and Somalia—Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said the Israeli strikes on Hamas negotiators in Qatar were a “reckless and provocative attack” that violated the country’s sovereignty and endangered civilians.

“Pakistan condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the brazen Israeli assault on the brotherly State of Qatar,” Ahmad told the 15-member Council, adding that the attack reflected a “consistent pattern of aggression” that has destabilized the region.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar and its right under the UN Charter to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The envoy also cited Israel’s repeated military operations in Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Iran and Yemen as violations of international humanitarian law, warning that such actions set a “dangerous precedent” under UNGA Resolution 3314 by eroding the rule of law and fostering impunity.

“This irresponsible action is yet another demonstration of Israel’s disregard for international law and its deliberate policy of destabilization,” Ahmad said.
