The FBI has made an urgent appeal for public assistance in the investigation into the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, releasing new videos and images of the suspect. The shooter, who remains at large, is believed to have fired the fatal shot at Kirk while he was addressing a crowd at Utah Valley University.
The newly released footage shows a person wearing a hat and sunglasses, running across a rooftop, climbing down, and fleeing into a nearby neighborhood. Authorities are also analyzing additional evidence, including a palm print, a shoe impression, and a high-powered hunting rifle found in a wooded area along the suspect’s escape route.
Despite these efforts, officials have yet to identify the shooter or establish a clear motive. FBI Director Kash Patel and Utah Governor Spencer Cox have stressed the importance of public cooperation, noting that more than 7,000 tips have been received so far. Cox also warned against disinformation online, emphasizing the need for accurate information as the investigation continues.
The tragic death of Kirk has intensified discussions on political violence in the U.S., with bipartisan condemnation of the attack. Former President Donald Trump expressed his commitment to finding the suspect, stating that his administration would hold accountable those responsible for the violence and those who support it.
Kirk, who played a significant role in galvanizing young people for the Trump campaign, was mourned by many, including his conservative youth organization, Turning Point USA. The organization called him a leader, mentor, and ideal family man, while offering their support to his wife and children during this devastating loss.
As the investigation progresses, law enforcement continues to search for the suspect, with a $100,000 reward being offered for information leading to an arrest.
