The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned YouTuber Iqra Kanwal over allegations of promoting gambling apps through social media.
Kanwal, along with YouTubers Rajab Butt and Muhammad Anas, was directed to appear before the agency’s Lahore office on September 9. The NCCIA warned that failure to comply would be treated as having no defence.
Through her counsel, Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq, Kanwal submitted a written reply stating that she is pregnant and unable to attend proceedings on medical grounds. Doctors have advised her to take at least two months of rest following childbirth, the statement said.
She assured investigators of her willingness to cooperate and provide all necessary records once her health allows.
Kanwal faces charges similar to those against Saadur Rehman (Ducky Bhai) and Mudassar Hassan, who were recently arrested for allegedly endorsing gambling apps and promoting unregulated investment schemes.
