A bomb blast at Kohsar Cricket Ground in the Khar Tehsil area of Bajaur district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), left one man dead and a child injured on Saturday, police confirmed.

The deceased was identified as Fazlullah. Both he and the injured child were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar for medical treatment, police added.

The explosion occurred during a local cricket match, sparking panic among players and spectators. According to officials, the blast’s impact was so powerful that its sound was echoed across distant areas, causing widespread alarm.

“In a state of panic, many fled the field as the blast shook the ground,” a police spokesperson said. “The explosion occurred while local players were actively engaged in the game.”

Security forces swiftly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. The site was being examined for further evidence while an investigation was launched into the nature and source of the explosive device.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
