Police have registered a terrorism and murder case against six suspects, including a lawyer, after a triple murder at Faisalabad’s Civil Hospital on Friday.
The victims’ bodies were handed over to their families following post-mortems and were later laid to rest in their native village amid the presence of hundreds of mourners.
Political, social and community figures from various walks of life attended the funeral prayers.
The case was lodged at Civil Lines Police Station on the complaint of Jafar Ali, who was injured during the incident.
In the FIR, he stated that the accused — Tahir Aslam, Intizar alias Shahid sons of Muhammad Aslam, Bilal son of Haji Khan, Mulazam Hussain, Gulfam and Ali Ahmed — had a long-standing dispute with his family.
Due to this enmity, the suspects opened fire in the parking area of Civil Hospital, killing his two nephews, Sabir son of Pervaiz and Babar son of Pervaiz, along with accused Mulazam Hussain who was also caught in the crossfire.
Jafar Ali and two others were injured in the shooting.
The indiscriminate firing caused panic inside the hospital before the assailants managed to flee. Police registered a case against the nominated suspects under Sections 302, 324, 148, 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
The bodies of Sabir and Babar were later handed over to their father, Pervaiz, after medico-legal formalities.
Both were buried in Chak 215-RB Neithri graveyard in the presence of a large number of mourners.
Following the burial, police maintained tight security in the village as both the victims and suspects belonged to the same locality and are reported to be close relatives.
Police sources said that both parties had been engaged in litigation over a land dispute at Sitara Gold City on Satyana Road.
Cases between them were also registered at the Anti-Corruption Police Station, Kotwali, and Civil Lines Police Station, indicating a history of confrontation.
