Radio Pakistan Hyderabad marked its 70th anniversary with a grand ceremony at the Pakistan Broadcasting House Hyderabad, celebrating seven decades of literature, culture, awareness, and music. Station Director Ali Akbar Hingorjo cut the anniversary cake and addressed the gathering.

In his remarks, Hingorjo highlighted that Radio has played a vital role in communication during both war and peace. He noted that even today, Radio Pakistan is contributing significantly by providing accurate information and awareness regarding natural disasters and rescue operations in Kashmir, Gilgit, Skardu, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thereby assisting both government and non-governmental relief teams.

He praised the station’s contributions to drama, literature, poetry, and fine arts, recalling that legendary artists such as Muhammad Ali, Saqi, Abida Parveen, and Mai Bhagi began their journeys at Radio Pakistan Hyderabad.

Former Station Director Naseer Mirza acknowledged the contributions of producers Ilyas Ishqi and M.B. Ansari, particularly Dr Ilyas Ishqi’s work in recording Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s Shah Jo Risalo in the voices of celebrated artists, including Saleh Muhammad Shah.

Writer Shabnam Gul described her experience at Radio as invaluable, calling it a source of great learning. Other speakers, including Agriculture Department DG Munir Jamani, Hyderabad Gymkhana President Agha Muhammad Taj, Abdul Malik Yousfani, Dr Imtiaz, Dr Farooq Talpur, Muhammad Khan Jarwar, and Muhammad Hussain, lauded Radio Pakistan’s communicative and cultural role.

The ceremony was attended by Programme Manager Muhammad Hussain, News Editor Saeeda Chandio, producers Muhammad Arif, Yaseen Junejo, Khalid Chandio, Shehzadi Bhurgari, Roshan Kalhoro, Aftab Hakkro, Naeema Mumtaz, Sajid Chandio, Abid Solangi, among others. The event concluded with a musical evening.
